OK so the headline says it all. I mentioned earlier how I had been having night sweats and thought I was premenopausal. I really don’t know if I am or not but the last two weeks have been terrible trying to get sleep when all the sudden I am dripping wet and my nice fitful sleep has been interrupted by a drenching t-shirt. I throw the covers off and wait to cool down before tossing over to one side or the other and drift back to sleep. Last night I figured this happened about 10 times. It is hard enough to get sleep when my back is flaring up but to add insult to injury is going to push me over the edge. So I was wondering if maybe it was the pain medication I have been taking. I have been taking more than I usually do so I went searching. What I found is that some medications, and in my case the steroid I take, can cause night sweats. But in general none of the meds I am on do. The other causes I can rule out as well such as chemo, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweat) or infections. Well now that I have ruled out that, and without a confirmed diagnosis, I will assume (which I always do) I am beginning the sweet stage of menopause. Now I have to find something to help me otherwise the lack of sleep will drive me insane.
I looked online and you can get prescription medication or take the herbal route. I think I’m going herbal. I don’t want any more chemicals in my body! I found a website after doing a search called Macafem which is an herbal supplement. According to their website:
“Macafem is a 100% natural supplement made of a special selection of Lepidium Meyenii, a dehydrated vegetable plant which produces a radish-like root in a multitude of colors.
Macafem’s nutrients stimulate the endocrine glands, which are responsible for regulating the body’s natural hormones. Because of this, Macafem can alleviate the most common health disorders in women related to hormonal imbalance which include menopause symptoms, PMS, decreased libido and infertility, among others.”
The reviews were quite positive and almost all respondents had positive things to say. I know sometimes you really don’t know if you should trust these reviews but I have found them to be quite accurate on occasion, anyway I ordered a few bottles, they were cheaper than individually, and will give it a try. Until then guess I sleep with less clothes and in the coldest room I can stand and will let you know soon how it works. Sleep tight!
