Today I decided that I would try downhill skiing. I had been cross country skiing numerous time and really enjoyed it, but always wanted to try downhill. Of course my gut was not feeling the love, but what the heck, you only live once right? I know the best thing to do for exercise when you have AS is a lot of stretching, and I did do a lot of yoga at one time, but to tell you the truth I really dislike exercising. Anyway I was very proud of myself for doing this feat today, and was surprised at how well I did but…. Downhill is murder on you joints even if you are experienced and the pain for a beginner in my words has to be worse. The more times I went down the easier it got, and my stomach, although filled with too much gas, did ease somewhat. So will I do this again? Most definitely but I am hoping my gut feels better the next time.
